Another one in the books!

Jenny's parent were here for the last couple of days, loving on Jenny as only parents can. Dad took Jenny down to the infusion center and then spent the hours there talking about current events and general philosophies on life. Jenny's Mom in the mean time was tearing up the kitchen - whipping up a batch of rolls, Crackers, Blueberry cobbler, and orzo, among other wonderful treats.

The treatment was about the same, but the aftereffects seem to be not as bad, so we are very thankful. The next MRI is scheduled for the 9th, and then the next consultation and infusion is the 10th. 

Jenny has been experiencing a little vertigo in the morning when she first wakes up, so if you would please remember to keep her in you prayers for this specifically. Joe had his adenoids removed this morning, so, it was a very heavy health care week for the Mulligans. Thank you all for your prayers and support!

No News is Good News

Sorry that I have not been on the blog for a while. There is nothing new to share, which is really good news! Jenny continues to receive infusions every 2 weeks, with a doctor consultation every 4 weeks and an MRI every 8 weeks. She finished her last infusion/doctor appointment this last Thursday, and there was no news, just the standard stuff....

The next MRI will be in 4 weeks, so sometimes around October 10th. I'll let you know if anything happens between now and then, but that should be the next check in point...

Family Wedding

It was great to be together last week with Jenny's Family. Maria's son was married to a lovely young lady, and all of the family was there... here is a pictuer of Jenny's sisters, mom, and sister-in-law...

Good News on the MRI - 8/15

Good News - The MRI showed that they was no change, no new growth, which is the goal of the treatment. Thanks to the Lord! We so appreciate all of your prayers and support. The next MRI will be in two months, with treatments every other week between now and then. 

We just finished the Doctor's appointment and now are in the infusion center getting a treatment. Joe started his first day of school, we dropped him off at 6:55am this morning for the car pool with a great group of parents that have blessed us by driving Joe back and forth, what a provision of grace for us. 

Please pray that Joe makes some great friends, is excited about his classes, and makes the transition smoothly.

Ethan, Tim, and Grace start their classes at UNCC next week, so we have a lot going on around the Mulligan house.  

Post Treatment Trip to the Mountains

Jenny finished her treatment on Thursday this week and then she and I ran up to the mountains to escape the August heat in Charlotte. The fact that she was able to make the trip is a testimony of God's grace on us! Below is a cheesy tourist picture of us in Blowing Rock where is was 15 degrees cooler then down here in the low lands. 

Jenny has her next MRI on the 14th and then a follow-up appointment on the 15th. We'll let you know how everything looks. Thanks as always for your prayers and support!

Treatment Update

Jenny and I went in for her treatment this week and met with the oncologist. He was very pleased with how well Jenny is tolerating the treatments, they seem to have been able to dial in a cocktail of various medicines, chemo, and steroids that is able to do the necessary work and not make Jenny too sick in the process. 

This week, following the treatment, Jenny was able to sleep well and had a pretty good level of energy, which was very encouraging. Joe, Jenny and I celebrated by cooking a big slab of baby back ribs on the grill! (yum!). I am traveling the majority of this week, so Jenny and Joe are at the Beach with Maria and her family (thanks Maria and Jim!) 

The next treatment is scheduled for Aug 1st (following our every two week schedule), and then the next MRI will be on the 14th, with a treatment and review of the MRI on the 15th., which is also Joe's first day of school at Covenant Classical. Later that week, Maria's oldest Son is getting married, so it will be an adventure filled week!

saying good bye to grandma grace

Jenny had to move her scheduled treatment to today, instead of going in Friday, as originally scheduled, due to my Grandmother Grace passing away this week. So, we are traveling this weekend to Birmingham Alabama. Grandma was a remarkable woman of 98 1/2 years of age. Up until very recently she was living in her house, driving her car, and "taking care of the elderly" in her church family. I had the opportunity to visit her a couple of times over the last year and she told me each time that I would come to see her and we would go out to dinner together - "Raymond", she would say with a very southern/Italian accent, "I am not sure why the good Lord still has me on this earth, but if it is only to pray for my children, grand children, and great grandchildren every day, then that's enough for me." Our conversations would range from college football, to the direction interest rates were headed, to the latest speech that the president had given, to sports center... 
It was certainly an opportunity to experience God's grace with I saw the legacy of a family history of life centered around a church family, and an undivided trust in the Lord's willingness to hear  and answer our prayers.
Please pray for us as we travel to Alabama tomorrow, a day after Jenny's treatment, that she would be able to travel comfortably and feel strong enough to manage the requirements of the services on Friday.
